Booking Terms
Booking & Cancellation Policy
Deposits and Payment
A 10% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your date, payable online by credit or debit card.
The deposit is non-refundable, except where Surfside Charters cancels the charter, or where we accept a valid reason for cancellation at our discretion.
Surfside Charters reserves the right to require a larger deposit, up to 50% of the total charter fee, for:
- charters with a total value above USD $5,000
- charters during peak periods (20 December to 5 January, and Easter week)
- corporate bookings and bookings made through travel agents
The remaining balance is due in full no later than 14 days before the charter date, or at the time of booking where the charter is booked within 14 days of departure. For charters during peak periods, the balance is due 30 days before the charter date.
Where a balance is not paid by the due date, Surfside Charters reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled by the charterer, release the date, and retain the deposit.
By making a booking you authorise Surfside Charters to charge the card provided for the charter fee, any cancellation charges set out below, any additional hours agreed on the day, and any damage to the vessel or its equipment caused by you or your party.
All prices are in USD. Gratuity is not included in the charter fee and is entirely at your discretion; guests are prompted to add a gratuity at the end of the charter. A 5% surcharge applies to card transactions; payment by bank transfer avoids this surcharge.
Cancellation by the Charterer
Cancellation charges are based on the notice given before the scheduled departure time, and are charged to the card on file.
| Notice given | Charge |
|---|---|
| More than 30 days | Deposit forfeited |
| 30 days to 72 hours | 50% of the total charter fee |
| 72 hours or less | 100% of the total charter fee |
For charters during peak periods (20 December to 5 January, and Easter week), the following applies instead:
| Notice given | Charge |
|---|---|
| More than 60 days | Deposit forfeited |
| 60 days to 30 days | 50% of the total charter fee |
| Less than 30 days | 100% of the total charter fee |
Any amount already paid is applied against the charge due. Where the charge exceeds the amount paid, the balance will be charged to the card on file.
Valid Reasons for Cancellation
Valid reasons for cancellation may include documented medical emergencies, bereavement, or other extraordinary circumstances. Surfside Charters reserves the right to request supporting documentation, and the decision to waive or reduce a cancellation charge rests solely with Surfside Charters.
Cancelled or delayed flights, changes to cruise ship itineraries, and changes of mind are not valid reasons for cancellation. We strongly recommend travel insurance.
Rescheduling
If you wish to reschedule your charter, please contact us at least 72 hours in advance and we will make every effort to accommodate your request, subject to availability.
A rescheduled charter must take place within 12 months of the original booking date. Where the new date falls in a higher-priced period, the difference is payable.
One reschedule is permitted at no charge. A subsequent reschedule, or a reschedule requested with less than 72 hours’ notice, is treated as a cancellation under the schedule above.
Cancellation by Surfside Charters
We reserve the right to cancel a charter due to circumstances beyond our control, including adverse weather or sea conditions, mechanical failure, or crew unavailability. In such cases we will offer either a rescheduled date or a full refund of all monies paid, including the deposit.
The decision to cancel or curtail a charter for weather or sea conditions rests solely with the Captain, whose judgement is final. A charter will not be cancelled on the grounds of guest preference about conditions.
Where a charter is cut short after departure for safety reasons, we will refund on a pro-rata basis for the time not taken, or offer a rescheduled date.
The Captain has final authority over the itinerary, departure and return times, and all matters of safety and navigation, and may end a charter without refund where guest behaviour endangers the vessel, the crew or any person aboard.
Refunds and Payment
Any refund due will be processed within 14 days of cancellation, to the original method of payment.
All payments are in USD. We accept MasterCard, Visa and American Express, and bank transfer. A 5% surcharge applies to card transactions.
Where a charge is disputed with your card issuer rather than raised with us directly, these terms, together with your acceptance of them at the time of booking, will be provided to the card issuer.
Guest Numbers, Arrival and Conduct
Final guest numbers must be confirmed no later than 7 days before the charter. Charges are based on the number confirmed, not the number who attend.
Guest numbers may not exceed the vessel’s licensed capacity under any circumstances: 30 aboard Bamboozled and 10 aboard Mojito Majic. Guests in excess of that number cannot be carried and no refund is due.
Charters end at the scheduled time regardless of late arrival. Where a late departure is possible, additional hours are charged at the published rate.
Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on their behalf. Please advise us in advance of any guest who is pregnant, has a medical condition or mobility limitation, or is a non-swimmer, and of the ages and weights of any young children so that appropriate life jackets are carried.
Surfside Charters does not hold a liquor licence and does not sell alcohol. Guests may bring their own alcohol aboard and do so at their own risk. The Captain may refuse boarding to, or disembark, any guest who is intoxicated or whose behaviour is unsafe.
Guests are responsible for any damage to the vessel or its equipment caused by themselves or their party. Smoking and illegal substances are prohibited aboard.
