Luxury Yacht Charter Grand Cayman: Is It Worth It?

A luxury yacht charter in Grand Cayman is worth it when you want the whole day built around your group. You get a yacht, a captain and crew who answer only to your party, snacks and drinks already on board, and a route you choose.

That is what the rate pays for. Below, we walk through each part: the crew, the catering, the boats, how long to book and how a full day in the North Sound unfolds.

What You Get on a Luxury Yacht Charter in Grand Cayman

Every Surfside yacht charter departs from Camana Bay, minutes from many of Grand Cayman's main hotels. The rate covers the yacht, the captain and crew, snorkel gear, and complimentary snacks, soda and water. Nothing is shared with other guests.

The comfort details are covered too. Every charter includes fresh towels, life jackets, WiFi, Bluetooth music, shaded seating and a freshwater deck shower. See everything included on every charter before you book.

A Captain Who Plans the Day Around Your Group

Local knowledge is the part of a crewed yacht charter you notice most. Your captain reads the wind, tide and weather, then builds a route around what your group wants: more time on the reef, a long beach lunch or a calm-water start.

The plan can change mid-trip. If someone wants another hour at the sandbar, you stay. If the kids are done snorkeling, you move on. Your captain also handles navigation and safety, so your group only has to decide what comes next.

Snacks, Gourmet Catering and a Private Chef

Every charter includes a fresh fruit platter, chips, water and soda. A cheese or charcuterie platter can be added on request. Surfside doesn't sell alcohol, so bring your own wine or bubbles.

For a bigger spread, the crew can arrange gourmet catering with 48 hours notice and a private chef with 72 hours' notice. Browse our onboard catering and private chef options to plan the menu.

Seabobs, Paddleboards and Fishing

Water toys turn a boat ride into a full day out. Surfside is one of the only charter operators on the island with Seabobs, the underwater scooters that pull you along the reef. Bamboozled carries the full set:

  • Seabobs (on Bamboozled) and stand-up paddleboards
  • A wakeboard, a kayak and large sun floats
  • A 15-foot tender with a 50 hp engine
  • Snorkel gear for every guest

Fishing runs on both yachts, with rods, reels, tackle and bait included. Our reef and deep-sea fishing charters head out for wahoo, tuna and mahi mahi.

Choosing Your Yacht: Bamboozled or Mojito Majic

Charter brokers list superyachts and motor yachts by the week. Surfside runs two day-charter yachts from Camana Bay instead, and the right one depends on your group and your plans.

Bamboozled: A Sailing Catamaran Built for Space

Bamboozled is a 56-foot Lagoon sailing catamaran built in 2018. Catamarans trade speed for space and comfort. Inside, a light-filled salon wraps a U-shaped lounge around the dining table, with a full galley alongside.

Outside, the aft deck has a wet bar, a barbecue and al fresco dining. The flybridge adds a shaded daybed above it all. Choose Bamboozled to relax on a sailing charter, or for a celebration with a bigger party.

Mojito Majic: An Intrepid Power Yacht Built for Range

Mojito Majic is a 38-foot Intrepid power yacht with triple 300 hp outboards. Choose it to fit more stops into one trip or to head offshore. Anglers should book it for deep-sea trips, with fish wells, dive platforms and a wide cockpit built for fishing.

Below deck, an air-conditioned cabin holds a berth, a sofa, a galley and a head with a shower. Both yachts come with the same crew standards, the same complimentary snacks and the same freedom to set your own route.

How Long to Charter: Half-Day, Full Day or Sunset Cruise

How long you book decides how much of the North Sound you see. Charters are priced per yacht rather than per person, so the same rate covers your whole party. See current charter rates for every yacht and trip length.

Luxury Charter Tour Options

Half-Day Charter: Four Hours

A half-day boat charter runs four hours and pairs Stingray City with Coral Gardens or Starfish Point. Start at 8 or 9am and you are back by lunch.

Full-Day Charter: Seven Hours

A full-day yacht charter runs seven hours. It covers every main North Sound stop and adds a beach lunch, fishing and time with the water toys.

Sunset Cruise: Two Hours

A Cayman Islands sunset cruise runs two hours through the Mangrove Channel and the mangroves of Little Sound, or along Seven Mile Beach. It suits couples, celebrations and a quieter evening on the water. Bamboozled's flybridge and Mojito Majic's sun pad both make good spots to watch the sky change.

A Full Day Aboard a Luxury Charter: Stingray City to Rum Point

Most luxury yacht charters in Grand Cayman spend the day in the North Sound, the shallow lagoon behind the Barrier Reef where the island's best-known stops sit a short run apart. Here is how a typical full day unfolds. Your captain sets the final order on the day.

Morning: Swimming With Southern Stingrays

Around 90 southern stingrays gather in the North Sound, and two sites let you meet them. The Stingray City Sandbar sits in 2 to 4 feet of water, so kids and non-swimmers can stand while the rays glide past. The original Stingray City, at about 12 feet, suits confident snorkelers.

Your captain anchors upwind of the rays. The crew briefs your group, hands out squid and shows you how to keep your thumbs tucked in. Want the stingrays as the main event? Book a private Stingray City tour.

Late Morning: Snorkeling Coral Gardens and Starfish Point

Coral Gardens is a shallow reef a short hop from the sandbar, ideal for beginners, while the Barrier Reef beyond holds deeper coral for stronger swimmers. At Starfish Point, red cushion starfish rest in knee-deep water. Look, but never lift them out.

Afternoon: Lunch at Kaibo or Rum Point

Kaibo and Rum Point are minutes away for lunch on the sand. Afterwards, the paddleboards come out at anchor, plus the Seabobs on Bamboozled, and there is time for one more swim before the cruise back to Camana Bay.

Prefer reefs and wrecks? Surfside also runs Grand Cayman snorkeling charters along Seven Mile Beach and out to the Kittiwake, where the clear water shows the hull from the surface.

So, Is a Luxury Yacht Charter in Grand Cayman Worth It?

Yes, when the day itself is the occasion. The rate already covers the yacht, the crew, snorkel gear, snacks and a route built around you, so there is little to add once you are aboard. Because Surfside prices per yacht, the cost per guest also falls as your group grows.

It is strongest value for birthdays, anniversaries, family days out and anglers who want a dedicated fishing boat. Weighing it against a shared tour? Our guide to Grand Cayman boat trips vs private charters compares prices, crowds and stops side by side.

How to Get Full Value From Your Charter

  1. Fill the boat. The cost per guest drops with every seat you fill.
  2. Book a morning start. An 8 or 9am departure gives you calm water and the most time at each stop.
  3. Give notice for food. Partner catering needs 48 hours, and a private chef needs 72.
  4. Book peak dates early. December to April fills first, and the balance for 20 December to 5 January and Easter week is due 30 days ahead.
  5. Name your priorities. Snorkeling, fishing or a long lunch at Rum Point: the route follows what you ask for.
